Curriculum Corner:
HOORAY!!! Your child is reading but...
that doesn't mean they don't need you anymore. Reading aloud to your child is one of the most important things you can do help them become a better reader. One of the most significant factors in determining a child’s success in reading is the parents’ attitudes about reading. If your child knows that reading is important and enjoyable to you, it will become important and enjoyable to them too. Making time in your busy day to read with your child is valuable. "When reading out loud to your child, they will be able to develop knowledge about language, context, sentence structure, grammar, syntax, and other components of language" (Jenna DeLuca). Reading together at home encourages a special bond. It will instill a love of reading that your child will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Please make time to read with your child everyday.
Valentine's Day Party: We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 13th from 12:45 - 1:30. As part of our celebration we will be distributing and opening Valentine’s Day cards. Please keep and eye out for another class list and be sure to include everyone so that we avoid hurt feelings. Also, please encourage children to address and to sign their own Valentines and remember, no candy please.
Reminder...
Please be sure to send sneakers into school every Monday and Friday so that students may fully participate in Wellness/PE class with Mr. Weston.
Energizers
Energizers are a quick way to help children (and teachers) refresh and "reset" during the day. Shark Attack and Robot Rap are a couple of our favorites. Ask your child to teach them to you. They are guaranteed to make you smile.
